POETRY & PROSE’S ‘OPEN
MIC’ NIGHT AT UH
HELPS CELEBRATE NATIONAL POETRY MONTH
In his famous poem “The Waste Land,” T. S. Eliot declared
that “April is the cruelest month.” But, ironically
enough, April is also National Poetry Month. In honor of that distinction,
the University of Houston’s “Poetry & Prose”
series is presenting an “Open Mic” program at 6 p.m.,
Wednesday, April 14.
The event is free and open to the public. It will take place in
the newly opened Honors College Commons area of the M.D. Anderson
Library. All aspiring poets are invited to read their works.
The featured reader and guest host will be Kathleen Lee, visiting
assistant professor in the Creative Writing Program. She is the
author of the short story collection “Travel Among Men.”
Her journalistic work has appeared in “Best American Travel
Writing 2001 and 2002.”
The Poetry & Prose series is a presentation of the Creative
Writing Program and the UH Libraries.
