ENROLLMENT AT UHS CINCO RANCH TOPS 1,000
FOR FIRST TIME
Open House for Prospective Students Set for March 24
KATY, TEXAS, March 19, 2004 – Spring semester enrollment
at the University of Houston System at Cinco Ranch has exceeded
1,000 for the first time and is expected to continue growing, said
Dr. Kurt Czupryn, UHS-CR director.
Degree programs such as the master’s in business administration
(MBA), the bachelor’s in business administration (BBA) and
a variety of education degree and certificate programs offered throughout
the day and in the evening continue to attract a growing number
of students to the teaching center.
Advances in technology have allowed students to take even more
classes via interactive television as well as perform library research
from computers located in the Reading Room, a “virtual library.”
Last summer, the center completed the installation of a new wireless
network. “This provides the ultimate in classroom flexibility
as professors can operate in any room or combination of rooms in
the building. Faculty are no longer be limited to using technology
and web-based resources only in our three 12-seat labs,” Czupryn
said.
An Open House is scheduled on Wednesday, March 24 from noon to
7 p.m. Prospective students and all interested parties are welcome
to come in and tour the facility, meet with admissions counselors
and academic advisers from all four UH System universities. For
more information, visit www.cincoranch.uh.edu, call 832-842-2800
or come by 4242 S. Mason Road (just south of Westheimer Parkway).
Education degrees, with teacher certification in both early childhood
through fourth grade and fourth through eighth grade, as well as
a post-bachelor’s teacher certification program, remain popular
programs. A full-time, on-site degree plan counselor is available
to help address students’ academic questions. Student teaching
placement options include Katy- and Ft. Bend-area schools, with
the students allowed to choose their locale. UH-Victoria, which
conducts several programs at UHS-CR, also has a state grant, Access
to Success, providing additional grant money to ISD employees seeking
teacher certification ranging up to $300 per semester. The UH-Victoria
School of Education also provides TExES State Certification testing
review sessions at no cost to students.
