‘LOST BOYS OF SUDAN’ TO APPEAR
AT UH’S ‘HUMANITY’ SYMPOSIUM
“For the Love of Humanity: The Story of the Lost Boys of
Sudan,” a symposium that will include an appearance by four
of the ‘Lost Boys,’ will be held at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday,
Feb. 18 at the University of Houston’s Farish Hall.
As civil war ravaged the African country of Sudan in the late 1980s,
a group of young men were driven from their homes and wandered across
the embattled country seeking refuge. They became known as the ‘Lost
Boys’ of Sudan and their plight attracted world attention.
While many perished, some were rescued by international religious
and social agencies that relocated them to safer places, including
the Houston area. The ‘Lost Boys’ appearing at the “For
the Love of Humanity” event currently reside in The Woodlands.
The event is being presented by the Human Development Student Association
at UH. A reception will follow the presentation. A limited amount
of public seating is available, but guests are requested to RSVP.
