FIRST COURT OF APPEALS TO HEAR ORAL ARGUMENTS
AT UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON LAW CENTER
The State of Texas’ First Court of Appeals will conduct its
business at the University of Houston Law Center on Feb. 17 in Krost
Hall Auditorium.
Starting at 10:30 a.m., the nine-member body will hear oral arguments
in two cases: The State of Texas v. The City of Galveston and Olympic
Arms, Inc. v. Philip R. Green. Each side gets 20 minutes to present
its issues to the appellate justices. The first case deals with
questions of sovereign immunity while the second case concerns defective
products and warranty issues, according to officials at the UH Law
Center.
This is the first time that the UH Law Center has hosted the First
Court of Appeals. Previously, the UH Law Center hosted the Supreme
Court of Texas.
The public is welcome to attend the proceedings, but protocols
of the court must be observed. For more information, call 713-743-2201.
