NEW UHS REGENTS GOLDEN, ROSE
TO BE SWORN IN WEDNESDAY

Two newly appointed members of the University of Houston System Board of Regents will be sworn in at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the UH Athletics/Alumni Center.

Dr. Dennis D. Golden and Lynden B. Rose will be administered the oath of office in a ceremony presided over by Bo Smith, chair of the UH System Board of Regents. UHS System Chancellor and UH President Jay Gogue will attend the event and offer welcoming remarks. Golden and Rose were appointed Jan. 2 by Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Golden and Rose are UH alums. Golden, an optometrist, is a cum laude graduate of UH where he received his bachelors of science and optometry degrees. Rose, an attorney, earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the university where he was also co-captain of the Cougar basketball team that reached the NCAA Final Four in 1982. Golden replaces former UH System Regent Suzette Caldwell whose term expired last year. Rose replaces Gene McDavid, the former Board of Regents chair whose term also expired last year. Golden is a doctor of optometry and owner of Golden Eye Associates in Carthage, Texas. He is a member of the Texas Optometric Association (TOA) and the American Optometric Association. He is past president of TOA, which named him optometrist of the year in 2003. He is also the past chairman of the Board of Trustees of Panola College where he served three terms.

Rose is an attorney in private practice in Houston. He is president of L. M. Rose Consulting and former president of Rose Sports Management Inc. Rose currently serves on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department Civil Service Commission.
