Enrolls 1,000 undergraduate and 50 graduate students…offers
comprehensive study in studio art, design, and art history.
Twenty-two full-time faculty and a Visual Resources
Library, which houses 100,000 images being digitized or Web-based
instruction and review.
Affords students the opportunity to learn from
nationally recognized artists, whose work has been exhibited in
galleries and museums, in areas as diverse as sculpture, digital
media, interior design, painting, jewelry, ceramics, and video…
Visiting Artist program complements offerings in painting, drawing,
and interior design.
Well-equipped studios for printmaking and jewelry;
indoor- outdoor facilities for sculpture and ceramics; computer
labs for graphics, photography, digital media, video.
Sponsors internships with major museums, galleries,
and alternative art spaces… enjoys productive and collegial
relationship with Blaffer Gallery, which hosts annual student exhibitions.
Faculty artists supported by Prix de Rome, Guggenheim
Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts… exhibit their
work in major museums around the world.
Art history faculty have received support from
American Council of Learned Societies, College Art Association of
America, Howard Foundation at Brown University, National Endowment
for the Humanities.
