ePerformance
Preparing for a New Way to
Evaluate Performance at UH
In 2009, Human Resources
spent a considerable amount
of time researching,
analyzing and developing the
use of an electronic
performance management tool
called ePerformance.
UHS already owned the
technology within PeopleSoft
8.9, we just needed to
dedicate resources to
activating the ePerformance
module for use by managers
and staff. HR made a
commitment to provide
managers with a better way
to evaluate their staff and,
at the same time, eliminate
the paper intensive process
of our annual performance
reviews.

What is ePerformance?
ePerformance is an
electronic method of
performance management for
benefits-eligible staff that
is very user-friendly and
will provide an opportunity
for managers and direct
reports to have an on-going
dialogue related to
performance throughout the
evaluation period. The
document follows workflow
within PeopleSoft, therefore
it is electronically routed
until finalized and becomes
part of the employee’s
electronic personnel file.
How is it different from
our traditional PCD?
ePerformance provides a
way for the organization to
communicate the mission and
strategic initiatives to
front line personnel. It
allows a special focus on
Customer Service being
delivered at all levels of
the organization. The
performance tool is
pre-loaded with the
employee’s specific
responsibilities directly
from their job description.
And by 2011, we will load
competencies, which are
behaviors demonstrated on
the job, that are matched to
your role. This will improve
and enhance HR’s ability to
deliver targeted training
and development
opportunities to managers
and staff.
