Tutoring Jobs Available

Juniors and Seniors: Would you like to tutor students who are enrolled in Econ 2301, 2304 and 2305--that is, the 'principles' classes of your department? If so, drop by the Undergraduate Center (room 208M) of the Economics Department and pick up an application. For the Spring 2006 semester, Tutoring begins on February 1st and ends on April 28th.

Tutors are scheduled for five hours a week staffing the Tutor Center (which is also the undergraduate computer lab). Dr. Wilcox will ask you to provide ten hours when you can work so that he can schedule everyone, and will try to give you your most-preferred five hours if he can. If you are tutoring for the first time in our program, you MUST also attend a one hour tutor's meeting each week: Again, Dr. Wilcox will arrange a time when all first-time tutors can meet each week.

There are two different 'rewards' you can choose as a tutor (but not both in the same semester). First, you may use a semester of tutoring as a 3-hour 3000-level economics elective class (like Labor, Public Finance, International Econ, Game Theory, etc.) counting toward your degree in Economics. If you do, you must pay for the course. Second, you may choose to tutor for a stipend of $800 dollars for the semester, which works out to about $10.25 per hour over the course of the semester.

Join Omicron Delta Epsilon; an academic honors society for those interested in      economics! For more information see http://www.omicrondeltaepsilon.org  See one of our advisors in room 208 McElhinney Hall to fill out an application.
