The Bachelor of Music in Composition is designed for students who want to be professional composers. Composition students are also prepared for graduate studies that may lead to college level teaching positions. Composition coursework enables students to become well-rounded musicians and capable composers. In addition to university core requirements, coursework includes composition lessons, applied lessons on the student’s major instrument, music theory and music history. Students gain performance experience in large and small instrumental or choral ensembles, and are encouraged to participate in AURA, the Moore’s School of Music’s new music ensemble.

A Bachelor in Music Composition is designed to prepare students for careers in musical performance and equip them for private teaching after graduation. Many students choose to pursue graduate study.
