Housing

Each year, approximately 70% of Honors College freshmen choose to live on campus. They join a residential population of some 2,700 students. While this represents a small portion of the UH student body, it is larger than most liberal arts colleges and makes for a lively campus life.

One of the primary ways The Honors College builds community among its students is by sponsoring Honors residence halls. Three halls in the Quadrangle (Taub, Oberholtzer and Law) are reserved for Honors College students.  These rooms are equipped with phone lines, cable, and Internet connections.

Students planning to live on campus must make application through the Office of Residential Life and Housing.  Questions can be directed to 713.743.6000 (toll-free at 800.247.7184).

When you apply, you should indicate in the "Other Information" box under Area Preference that you wish to be placed in an Honors residence hall.  Our Student Services office regularly notifies the Housing staff of new admits to the Honors College on a weekly basis.

Incoming Honors students should apply for housing no later than April 1st.  Applications are accepted and processed after that date, but students who apply after April 1st are assigned Honors housing on an as-available basis.
