NATIONAL MERIT CORPORATION COMPETITION
Have you been designated by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or the National Achievement Program as one of the following?

Have you completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?
If you intend to apply for need-based grants or loans, you must file a FAFSA. FAFSA forms may be obtained after January 1st through your high school counselor or your may file the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
HOUSING
Do you plan to reside on campus in one of the Honors residence halls?
If you intend to reside on campus, you must complete a separate housing application. To request an application for University housing, please contact UH Housing Services at 713.743.6000. Out-of-state students should dial 800.247.7184. Completing this section does not constitute an application for housing.
OPTIONAL
All applications should include the following:
*a full length academic essay of three to five pages (300 word minimum), such as a literary analysis or research paper with a central thesis and strong supporting arguments; *list of interests and activities; *high school transcript; *SAT or ACT score report; *$20.00 application fee.
Transfer students also should send college transcripts. If you have already sent transcripts to the Office of Admissions, it is not necessary to send a second copy to The Honors College.
Submit your essay as an email attachment to honors@uh.edu in one of the following formats: Text (.txt), Pages (.pages), Word Document (.doc), or Rich Text (.rtf). Ensure that your email has your full name and your date of birth in the Subject line.
