Engineering majors must earn a grade of C- or better in all engineering, mathematics, and science courses. No grade lower than C- will be accepted on any courses transferred to the University of Houston.
ENGI 1100: Introduction to Engineering
Cr. 1. (0-2). Prerequisite: credit for or registration in MATH 1431. Restricted to honors and academic scholarship recipient students in the first semester in which the prerequisite is satisfied. Overview of engineering, information about various engineering disciplines, simple examples of problem solving, and engineering ethics.
ENGI 1197: Selected Topics
Cr. 1. (0-4). Credit may not be applied to a degree in engineering.May be repeated when topics vary.
ENGI 1297: Selected Topics
Cr. 2. (0-4). Credit may not be applied to a degree in engineering. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.
ENGI 2304: Technical Communications
Cr. 3. (2-3). Prerequisites: ENGL 1304, admission to an Engineering major, and sophomore standing in Engineering. Technical communication skills, with emphasis on writing of technical documents, oral presentations, and visual aids using modern computer technology.
ENGI 2334: Introduction to Thermodynamics
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: CHEM 1331 or CHEM 1372, MATH 2433, and PHYS 1322. Fundamental concepts, thermodynamic systems and applications, heat and work, properties of pure substances, first and second laws of thermodynamics.
ENGI 3301: Technology and Western Culture (formerly MECE 3301)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: junior standing. Open to all students who meet the stated prerequisite. Focuses on technological foundations of northern European culture, eighth century through the industrialization of Europe and America. Reference to technological influences from earlier Mediterranean and oriental civilizations.
ENGI 4198:4298:4398:4498: Special Problems
Cr. 1-4 per semester or more by concurrent enrollment. Prerequisite: approval of department chair.
