- return to top - Physical Education FeesStudents enrolling (registering) for physical education courses in which one semester hour credit is received must pay $35 each semester. Students will be provided with a clean towel and clean gym uniform (except shoes) for each class and for any other time when they participate in physical education activities while attending the university. Degree ProgramsThe Department of Health and Human Performance offers a B.S. degree in Kinesiology (Movement and Sports Studies Track I) with all-level certification. The department also offers B.S. degrees in Health, Kinesiology (Exercise Science and Sports Administration), and Human Nutrition and Foods (American Dietetic Association certified) without teacher certification. - return to top - Admissions RequirementIn order to become a major in any of the certified and noncertified degree programs offered in the Department of Health and Human Performance, UH students who have completed 15-60 hours of college level work at UH or other schools must have a minimum 2.30 cumulative GPA on all college course work. University of Houston students who have completed 60 or more semester hours of college level work at either UH or other schools must have a minimum 2.30 cumulative GPA in the last 60 semester hours to enter one of the Department’s degree programs. The computation of the GPA over the last 60 semester hours will include all grades for the semester in which the 60th hour occurs. Students on probation or suspension are not eligible to enter one of the Department’s degree programs. - return to top - Degree with Certification

Health Promotion Emphasis for Allied Health ProfessionalsStudents who are Texas Medical Center Employees with significant experience or two-year Associate degrees in Allied Health (e.g., dental hygiene, respiratory therapy) may seek Bachelor's degrees in Health. The Human Nutrition and Foods major offers an interdisciplinary approach to nutrition and foods in relationship to socioeconomic factors, management skills, and health care services.
The program allows students to fulfill career plans in commercial, educational, community, or research settings.
The University of Houston is granted approval by the Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association, 216 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60606, 312-899-4876. Upon completion of this degree, also called the Didactic Program in Dietetics, students are eligible to apply for entry into a supervised practice program which will prepare them to take the Registration Examination for dietitians.
