EDUC 3205:3206: Learning to Teach
Cr. 2 per course (2-2). Prerequisite: admission to Professional Development Sequence. Field-based course on principles of teaching and learning in educational settings; focus on teaching/learning processes; and structure, organization, and management of schools.
EDUC 3301: Introduction to Teaching
Cr. 3. (3-9). Prerequisite: admission to Professional Development Sequence. Field-based experiences using the principles of teaching and learning; legal and ethical aspects in teaching; and structure, organization, and management of schools.
EDUC 3302: Introduction to Teaching
Cr. 3. (3-9). Prerequisites: EDUC 3301 and admission to Professional Development Sequence. Alignment and application of teaching and learning principles.
EDUC 4303: Teaching and Learning
Cr. 3. (3-9). Prerequisite: admission to Professional Development Sequence. Supervised practicum analyzing cognitive and affective characteristics of learners, including growth and development, special populations, testing, measurement, and evaluation.
EDUC 4304: Seminar in Teaching
Cr. 3. (3-9). Prerequisites: admission to Professional Development Sequence and concurrent enrollment in student teaching. Advanced practicum analyzing curriculum design and implementation; techniques for instruction, applied motivation, and classroom management; legal, political, and ethical concerns in education; social, cultural, and philosophic background for education in a multicultural society.
EDUC 4311:4312: Student Teaching: Elementary
Cr. 3 per course. (3-9). Prerequisite: completion of professional development sequence and admission to student teaching. Demonstration of specified competencies in a school setting guided by a cooperating teacher and directed by a university supervisor. Seminar required.
EDUC 4313: Student Teaching: Early Childhood Education
Cr. 3. (3-9). Prerequisite: completion of professional development sequence and admission to student teaching. Demonstration of specified competencies in a school setting guided by a cooperating teacher and directed by a university supervisor. Seminar required.
EDUC 4314:4315: Student Teaching: Secondary
Cr. 3 per course. (3-9). Prerequisites: completion of professional development sequence and admission to student teaching. Demonstration of specified competencies in a school setting guided by a cooperating teacher and directed by a university supervisor. Seminar required.
EDUC 4316: Student Teaching: Art - Elementary

EDUC 4394: Practicum for First-Year Teachers
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: CUIN 3202 or 3301, depending on certification level. First-year teachers participate in workshops to a) apply educational knowledge to teaching, b) reflect on events in classrooms/schools, and c) engage in cooperative problem solving in teaching experience.
