The University Center (UC), located just inside Entrance 1, is the heart of student activity and offers a wide variety of useful products, services, and opportunities to meet and connect with other people. Once at the University Center, students have access to dining facilities; clean, comfortable lounges for studying, visiting, and watching television; and meeting rooms for conducting organization meetings, social events, and educational programs. The UC Administrative Services and Operations Office is located on the second floor and is responsible for the overall operation of the University Center, University Center Satellite, Student Program Board, and the Child Care Center.

In the UC Underground, the Department of Campus Activities offices are home to the Student Government Association, fee-funded umbrella student organizations, over 280 registered student organizations, and their professional advisors. Also in the UC Underground, the Metropolitan Volunteer Program offers opportunities to improve the world at the local level.

Cougar Byte Computer Store
The Cougar Byte, a computer store located on the Arbor level of the UC,
has computers, calculators, computer-related supplies, printers and a
wide variety of software and hardware available for discount sale to
students, faculty, and staff. The Cougar Byte is also the authorized
computer repair service center for the University of Houston.

Woodforest National Bank
Woodforest is a full-service bank that provides personal and business
savings and checking accounts, student loans, personal and corporate

UC Business Office
Located on the second floor of the UC, the UC Business Office offers
services to students, faculty, and staff. Locker rentals are available
for on-campus storage. The UC Business Office also sells Metro (local
city-wide bus system) packages at discounted prices and International
Student IDs for students traveling abroad.

UC Games Room
The UC Games Room is where fun and games are found on campus. The UC
Games Room, located on the Arbor level, has bowling lanes, pool tables,
table tennis, pinball and the latest video games, all for a small
charge. Table games are also available for use at no charge. The UC
Games Room is available for individual or group usage/reservations.
Leagues are formed each semester with tournaments taking place
throughout the school year.

UC Conference and Reservation Services Office
The UC Conference and Reservation Services Office is where meeting room
space can be obtained by university student organizations registered
with the Department of Campus Activities, by university administrative
or academic departments, or by any legitimate off-campus group.

The Veterans' Services Office (VSO)
The Veterans' Services Office offers a computer lab, facsimile
services, copy privileges, a scholarship guide, and sponsorship of the
annual Veteran's Day Celebration. Knowledgeable student-veteran
counselors assist student-veterans and benefits eligible dependents in
processing educational benefits and on Department of Veterans' Affairs
and Texas veterans' benefits as well as Federal Financial Aid.

UH Wellness
UH Wellness, a university-wide wellness center and clearing house,
promotes a supportive environment for achieving a healthy lifestyle.
This service provides information, referral and educational programs on
stress management, prevention of alcohol and other drug abuse, sexual
health, healthy relationships and related issues. Outreach programs may
be arranged for campus/community groups. The Peer Education Program
(credit course offered) provides the opportunity for students to be
trained in providing wellness programs for their peers. Students and
others are welcome to visit.

Located on the northwest side of campus, near the liberal arts colleges, the UC Satellite offers services similar to those at the University Center. For TV breaks, the Satellite has two viewing areas with 2 big-screen TVs. Other available services include a quiet study lounge with Internet connections, two meeting rooms available for reservations, a C-store and the popular Satellite Games Room.

Cullen Performance Hall, built in 1948 and completely renovated in 1988, is a 1,544 seat Proscenium Theatre located near Entrance 1.
Although it is equipped with modern sound, lighting and rigging systems that accommodate all but the largest productions, the theatre still maintains the historic charm of the original structure. The hall routinely handles a wide variety of events sponsored by departments and organizations at the University of Houston in addition to contemporary music concerts, opera, modern dance, and theatrical performances put on by groups outside the Houston area.

The Hilton University of Houston, which hasn't been updated since it was built in 1975, recently completed a $12.5 million renovation to its facilities. The transformed contemporary, stylish "new" property reopened its doors for business on April 7, 2010. This unique facility serves as the training hotel for students attending the top-ranked Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Here, hospitality students work with hotel professionals to gain hands-on experience in guest service, hotel operations and banquet service. The hotel offers 80 hotel guest rooms and six suites. Eric's Restaurant, located just off the lobby of the Hilton University of Houston, is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Barron's Restaurant is a lunch-only operation and is managed and staffed entirely by Hilton College students. Located in the South Wing of the Hilton College, hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters. Cougar Grounds, located next to Barron's Restaurant, is a student-run coffee shop and the newest campus hotspot for gourmet coffee, tea and fresh-baked pastries. It is the first university coffee shop in the country managed and staffed by students as part of an educational experience and the gourmet coffee brewed here is second to none.
