This certification from the State Board for Educator Certification and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education qualifies students to teach in the public schools as well as in preschool and day care settings. Additionally, it provides a basis for graduate training and research.
The Interdisciplinary Studies and Human Development and Family Studies majors offer tracks that lead to certification for Early Childhood Education (early childhood through grade six). The Bilingual option is available only through the Interdisciplinary Studies Major.
Students pursue certifcation in coordination with the teacher preparation program, QUEST (Quality Urban Education for Students and Teachers), which readies undergraduate students to be certified as teachers in a variety of fields.
For more information regarding QUEST, go to www.coe.uh.edu/about/quest/ or contact an advisor in room 256 of Farish Hall.
