THEA 3367: Acting in Comedy and Farce
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: THEA 1338, 1339, and theatre major or consent of instructor. Application of advanced acting techniques to comedy/farce through monologues and scene work drawn from contemporary plays.

THEA 3368: Costume Design for Dance
Cr. 3. (1-2). Prerequisites: THEA 2373 and consent of instructor. Fundamentals of costume design as they apply to choreography, dance, and music with implementation into realized production values.

THEA 3369: Acting Shakespeare I
Cr. 3. Prerequisites: THEA 1338, 1339, and theatre major or consent of instructor. Basic principles and training in the use of Shakespearean verse forms and their application to text and character.

THEA 3370: Acting Shakespeare II
Cr. 3. Prerequisites: THEA 3369 and theatre major or consent of instructor. Application of verse training and analysis of classical texts to character and scene work.

THEA 3377: Stage Combat I
Cr. 3. Prerequisites: THEA 2338 and consent of instructor. Training in staged combat; unarmed, single sword, and rapier/dagger. Techniques follow requirements established by the Society of American Fight Directors.

THEA 3378: Stage Combat II
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: THEA 3377 and consent of instructor. Continued training in additional stage weapon disciplines such as broadsword, quarterstaff, smallsword, knife, and sword and shield. Individual students may opt to have a professional adjudicator critique their final exam. Those who meet Society of American Fight Directors standards receive an internationally recognized certificate of skills proficiency from the S.A.F.D.

THEA 3383: Stage Management
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 2335 or consent of instructor. Techniques of planning, organizing, rehearsing, and running theatrical productions as stage manager.

THEA 3384: Scene Painting
Cr.3. Theory and practice of painting theatrical scenery. Materials, tools, and techniques used in painting textural and illusionistic scenery through demonstrations and applied projects.

THEA 3385: Scenic Design I
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 1334 or consent of instructor. Theory, practice, and history of scenic design. Development and communication of ideas, script analysis, visual research, and design concepts.

THEA 3386: Theatre Sound Design
Cr. 3. The use of reproduced and reinforced sound in theatre production, including traditional methods, current technology, and the techniques and practical skills of sound design.

THEA 3387: Lighting Design I
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: THEA 1332 and 1334 or consent of instructor. Fundamentals of stage lighting; basic theories of light and color; equipment and control; instruments and switchboards.

THEA 3388: Advanced Stagecraft
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 2335 or consent of instructor. An intensive study of scenic practices, particularly relating to set and property construction, costuming, light execution, and box office procedures.

THEA 3389: Lighting Design II
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: THEA 3387 or consent of instructor. Implementation of lighting ideas into actual designs, including light plots, schedule, the use of equipment and the exploration of lighting styles.

THEA 3390: Technical Drawing

THEA 3391: Costume Practicum: Applied Techniques

THEA 4335: Musical Theatre Collaboration
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: consent of instructor. Techniques of collaboration for composers, lyricists, bookwriters, directors, choreographers, producers, and designers through completion of assigned projects leading to performance of new musical theatre works.

THEA 4336: Musical Theatre Workshop
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: consent of instructor. Interpretation and performance of excerpts from musical theatre by student singers, actors, dancers, and stage managers, including full participation in a major new musical as well as in recital of excerpts drawn from newly-written student musicals.

THEA 4349: Scenic Design II
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: THEA 3385, or consent of instructor. Advanced techniques of scenic design. Conceptual analysis and fulfillment of projects covering a wide variety of genres.

THEA 4351: Acting Through Props
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: THEA 1338, 1339, and consent of instructor. Advanced acting, concentrating on character development through the use of props and body. May be repeated for credit.

THEA 4357: Alley Theatre in Production
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: theatre major, junior standing, and consent of instructor. An examination of all aspects of performance, production, management of a professional regional theatre from first rehearsal trough opening night.

THEA 4360: Theatrical Wig Construction and Styling
Cr. 3. (1-4). Prerequisites: THEA 2366 and consent of instructor. Techniques of ventilating, styling, and fronting human and synthetic hair wigs for use in theatrical productions.

THEA 4367: Costume Draping
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: THEA 2373, 2374, and consent of instructor. Skills and techniques required to create a theatrical costume using fabric as a sculptural and three-dimensional paradigm.

THEA 4368: Five Approaches to Acting
Cr. 3. Prerequisites: THEA 1338 and 1339 and consent of instructor. Acting methods: Stanislavski, episodic, masks, cultural anthropology, and storytelling.
