College of EducationTeacher Certification ProgramThe university and the College of Education offer bachelor's degree programs that meet the State Board for Educator Certification requirements for the standard teaching certificate. Students are required to have a Texas teaching certificate to teach in Texas public schools. The college offers standard teaching certificates at the elementary and secondary school levels and at all levels for specific subjects. Teacher certification programs are offered for post-baccalaureate students who hold at least a bachelor's degree. See the Education section of the Graduate and Professional Studiescatalog for further information or see an advisor in 112 Farish Hall. All potential teacher certification candidates will be subject to a formal FBI fingerprint check before being allowed to enter any teacher certification program. All teacher certification transactions for the university, including those for postbaccalaureate students, are made through the Teacher Education and Certification Office in the College of Education.
