The College of Education is committed to the preparation of teachers, counselors, school and higher education administrators, and professionals for a wide variety of educational settings, including social agencies, business, and government. Because of the university's urban setting, students will have opportunities to work with learners in a wide variety of educational settings.
The College of Education is accredited by the State Board for Educator Certification
and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
and is a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher
Each of the four departments of the college focuses on a specific aspect of professional education. The major entitled Interdisciplinary Studies is housed within the Curriculum and Instruction department; two majors, Health and Kinesiology, are housed in the Health and Human Performance department.
