Vice President for Governmental Relations, University of Houston
Grover S. Campbell joined the UH System in 1984. His areas of expertise include the development and implementation of legislative strategy at both the state and federal levels. He is responsible for working with university officials in ensuring effective communication between the institution and federal, state, and local legislative bodies and agencies. His office provides review and advice on any legislation which may affect higher education in general, and the UH System in particular.
Prior to joining the UH System, Campbell was special assistant for governmental relations for The University of Texas System from 1978 to 1984. He was responsible for the administration of the UT Office of Governmental Relations and represented the fourteen components of the UT System before the Texas Legislature and the United States Congress.
From 1974 to 1978, Campbell was the administrative assistant for State Representative Herman Adams and was charged with all legislative, committee, and constituent responsibilities of the representative's Capitol office. From 1973 to 1974, Campbell served as assistant sergeant-at-arms of the Texas House of Representatives and provided research assistance and other special projects as required.
He is a graduate of UT-Austin, having received a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in business administration.
Campbell is a member of numerous local, state, and national organizations, both civic and professional.
