Dr. Donald J. Foss

Dr. Donald J. Foss assumed the position of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and UH System Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in July 2005.

Prior to his appointment at UH, Dr. Foss served ten years as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. The Minneapolis, Minnesota native holds a Ph.D. in experimental psychology with a minor in child development from the University of Minnesota. Before joining Florida State University, Dr. Foss was psychology chair and professor at the University of Texas at Austin.

As the university’s leader of academic affairs, Dr. Foss is working to:

  • Strengthen individual colleges and build interdisciplinary opportunities
  • Enhance human capital to maximize research opportunities, teaching effectiveness, and overall efficiency
  • Improve students’ educational experiences

He and his wife have two daughters, Melissa and Lara.
