Joseph L. Mashburn

Dean, Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture

Joseph Mashburn grew up in the Houston neighborhood of Westbury and graduated from Bellaire High School. He received his bachelor's in architecture from the University of Houston in 1978 and his master's in architecture from Texas A&M. He served as an assistant professor and graduate design coordinator at A&M from 1982 to 1988 and in 1989 moved to Virginia Tech. In 1996 Mashburn was inducted into UH's Architecture Hall of Fame and in August of 1998 he was appointed dean of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture.
