FAQ’s

What is the March of Dimes?

The March of Dimes Foundation is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. It was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938, as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, to combat polio. It has since taken up promoting general health for pregnant women and babies.

How do I join a pre-existing team?

You may join a pre-existing team by registering at www.marchforbabies.org/universityofhouston

How do I create a new team?

Contact Susie Molina at srmolina@uh.edu or Corina Karabanoff at ckarabanoff@uh.edu.

I'm Team Captain, what now?

Once your team is registered you can begin fundraising immediately. Also there will be a March of Dimes Kickoff Luncheon on February 15 on UH’s Main Campus just for Team Captains that will give you tons of ideas for fundraising and engagement efforts. More information for this event will be sent once your team is registered.

Are there registration fees?

Yes, registration fees are $25 per walker and that comes with a UH March of Dimes t-shirt, breakfast and lunch on March of Dimes walk day (April 23, 2017). Every participant is responsible for covering the fees.

For an example, a team of 10 walkers raises $350, each walker's registration fees would be covered.

If you have 10 walker's and raise only $150 your team would be responsible for paying the difference.

How can I fundraise?

You can fundraise in any legal way. If you choose to fundraise on campus please refer to the event registration and fundraising policy set forth by the Center for Student Involvement at http://www.uh.edu/csi/rso/event_registration.html.

I’ve raised money, now what?

You can submit funds raised for the March of Dimes walk in two ways.

1. Go to any Wells Fargo in the greater Houston area and ask for a March of Dimes Deposit slip and on that form specify that you are donating on behalf of the University of Houston.

2. Attend one of our Bank Days on campus. We’ll have a March of Dimes & UH representative present to collect & count funds.

Bank Day information will be disseminated to team captains after their team is registered.

What is the date of this event?

Sunday April 23, 2017 with the official walk beginning at 9 a.m.

Where is the event located?

UH Main Campus (4800 Calhoun), the start line is at the corner of University & Calhoun.

What do the funds I raise go towards?
