Next general meeting will be Thursday November 1,
in the Bluebonnet Room (rm 250) of the UC from 3:30
- 5:30 pm.
Fun night at Gillians! Saturday October 6,
we will all get together at Gillians (which is a fun place
for games kind of like Dave and Busters) for a night of fun.
We will meet there at 5 pm.
AASA information booth, we will be in the UC on Thursday
October 11 with information about the association, membership
forms, t-shirts and just hanging out, so come and say hello.
Next bake sale will be October 18 in the PGH
Breezeway. Join us in preparing (and of course eating) some
of your favorite Arabic cuisine. Subsequent Bake sale will be Nov.
15.
Picnic on Sunday October 21 will be held in
conjunction with the Persian Students Association, Indian Students
Association, and Pakistani Students Association. This is a new activity,
when we get more information about time and place we will post it.
Karaoke night on Saturday November 10, At the
ACC site starting at 7 pm. Come have fun with us as we make
fools of ourselves singing to Abdel Halim and all of your favorite
Arabic and American singers.
Khayma Ramadania on Saturday November 24. At
the ACC site. It would be an after-dinner (around 7 pm)
get-together where everybody can get together play games, bring
their shisha, listen to music/ a singer and possible poetry readings,
and socialize. It is going to be a lot of fun, we are still planning
everything, but it will be a large-scale event where we will invite
the whole community, so start telling people from now!
Academic and cultural dialogue postponed to February
9. The theme will be the importance of Arabic Language and
Civilization, and we will have speakers speaking on the topic, poetry,
and cultural entertainment, as well as refreshments. We look forward
to seeing all of you there and having you involved in the planning
of the event. This event is in support of the newly established
Arabic language program at UH.
Our annual banquet will be held in the spring semester
(possibly March). This semester we plan to focus on more
social activities for the members, such as bowling, maybe paintball
shooting, going to game rooms like Gillian's, etc, so keep posted
for those events.
There are several cultural functions that the Council of
Ethnic Organization and the International Student Organizations
are hosting, and there is a large chance that we will participate
in some of these activities. We will keep you posted, and of course
we hope to get you involved in presenting our culture to the UH
community.
