SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Sheeler Scholarship Fund

Established in 1981 by the widow of Dr. John Rueben Sheeler, this scholarship provides funding to academically talented students. The student must have a 3.0 g.p.a. and must be pursuing a major in Humanities, Fine Arts, and Communication or Social Sciences. The amount of this award is $500.

African American Studies Academic Excellence Scholarship

The purpose of this award is to encourage students to strive for excellence in the academic arena. Students eligible for this scholarship must have a 3.25 g.p a. or higher, complete nine hours of African American Studies coursework, and must also be pursuing a degree in the Humanities, Fine Arts, and Communication or Social Sciences. This scholarship is highly competitive and offers an award in the amount of $1000.

Academic Support Grant

This grant was designed to provide emergency financial assistance to students. The maximum amount of this grant is $500, which can be used to purchase books or be applied to the student's tuition and fees. You must be a full-time student, in good academic standing, provide proof of need, and have completed 6 hours of course work in African American Studies.
